"Verizon’s latest projected launch estimate has set for launch on Janurary 30 a product called "AppZone". It is odd and rare for a product to appear within 60 days before shipping with nothing known about it. AppZone, when spoken slowly, does resemble "Apple’s Phone"." [pcsintel]

This has probably nothing to do with Apple or the iPhone. Many companies, like Intel, have used this short name for “Application Zone” in the past.

This time AppZone probably refers to Cellnext product. Through their AppZONE product, CellNext offers range of SMS and IVR content and application to Telecom Operators. This includes SMS based generic content like news, jokes and weather; Branded content including horoscope and tips; Applications like chain messaging, reverse auction and word builder. They also have IVR based content like ringtones, horoscopes, applications and more.
