I was very excited about the announcement today (Jan 9) about the iPhone until I heard about the exclusive with Cingular. My heart sank. What a big mistake for Apple to make. Cingular has one of the worst customer service and brand retention behaviors of current companies - right in there with Enron.

I have been an avid and exclusive apple user since 1984 and own a design practice in Seattle that is all Mac. I am disappointed to say that it will be a “multi-year” wait for me to have anything to do with the iPhone.
Sincerely.

People, don’t you realize what kind of hassle this product could be? Besides having to constantly wipe down the phone with a microfiber cloth for those finger prints, think of all the face grease or make up (for you ladies) on the screen.
Yuck.
Then is it really worth it to bring around something so exposed (the screen that is) around with you always worrying about it’s most important feature?
I’d much rather carry a midsized phone that I don’t have to worry about all the time and save the computer work for home or office when I get to my iMac or iBook.
What is the point of carrying around this iPhone? If it completely replaced my iMac or iBook, ok, I can understand that. But paying $500+ for something that will only partially duplicate functions of my iPod, computer and phone???
Thanks but no thanks. I don’t need the extra worry and headache.

iphone freaks, please help me out
I really am struggling to understand all the hype regarding this new iPhone. what does it actually do that no other machine can do?
It actually saddens me that the iPhone people do not appear to have been paying attention even to the iPod users, or the rest of the ’smartphone’ market. only a touchscreen!!! unfortunate decision, especiallave after the brilliant wheel on the iPod, don’t underestimate how important a tactile user interface is on a phone.
please don’t get confused by this post, I’m not a iPhone hater, I’d love it to be an awesome device. What I think I’m seeing tho, is many other users that would love it to be an awesome device and so are proclaiming that it is, but… is it? why?
