Following a meeting with members of Apple’s leadership, Prudential Equity Group said Monday that the company expects the majority of iPhone sales to occur at its own retail chain and that it will not tread on any new product categories for some time.

"Apple said that the iPhone will be sold exclusively through its own stores, its website, and Cingular stores," Tortora wrote in a research note following the get-together. "Management expects the majority of the iPhone sales to occur in Apple stores, given that consumers will likely look to Apple to demonstrate the device’s features." AppleInsider

We knew that for some times but now we have the confirmation about it. Apple really wants the market to believe that the iPhone is a unique product. In fact, it will probably be for a while but the phone industry is rapidly adapting to new technologies and within a year of the release of the iPhone, the device won’t be so original.

What will remain though is the strength of the brand. That is what Apple is doing the best: branding. I’m not sure how they did this, but the iPhone is exciting. Period. We may see iPhone look-alikes from Samsung, Meizu and other mobile phone manufacturers but nobody can compete with Apple when it’s time to build brands.

What is strange with the iPhone is the brand was self-built on the internet. The iPhone was a strong Apple brand months if not years before Apple even pronounced the name.

Are we manipulated? But how?
