There was a strong rumor a few weeks ago about the iPhone being available on a prepaid plan. But if look at the three new ads released yesterday by AT&T, you can clearly read at the end of the ad : “Use requires minimum new 2 years plan”.

Here you go, don’t even ask for a pay-as-you-go or prepaid plan. Don’t even ask for a transfer of the plan you signed three months ago. The contract needs to be two years and new.

But if we look even closer, the phrase says "use" not "buy". Could you buy the iPhone and not the cellular plan? Probably not, it would make the most expensive iPod ever.

Last missing piece of information? The contract cancellation fee.
