NetSuite is launching SuitePhone, an integrated set of business management programs for the iPhone. The company says SuitePhone isn’t so much a new set of applications but NetSuite simply for the iPhone.
This set of application includes a CRM (Customer Relationship Management), a ERP(Enterprise Resource Planning) and e-commerce functionalities. Nothing less!
Apple’s decision to integrate the Safari browser in the iPhone was key for NetSuite and made the SuitePhone for iPhone development a easy job.
“We’ve always supported multiple browsers, so Apple putting Safari on the iPhone made it a simple process,” said Sean Rollings, senior director of product marketing at NetSuite.
Current NetSuite users can easily access their accounts on an iPhone at no additional costs.
This
unexpected support from an important key player in the business
software market comes on the scene just in time for Apple. In fact, it took
only a few hours for Apple to publish a news release
to emphasize the fact that the iPhone can be a serious business tool
with NetSuite. Better and easier corporate mail server synchronization
would now be the only serious missing feature to make the iPhone a
serious competitor to the RIM’s Blackberry.
RIM’s
successful business tool is by far the best e-mail enabled device on
the market today, but its browser is just plain awful. And because the BB browser is so
weak, third party applications need to be adapted and installed on the
Blackberry. This step usually adds to the already to high
implementation costs associated with the Blackberry.
