Today, Apple announced that it has sold its one millionth iPhone over the weekend. Even though this is slower than a few analysts thought it would be, 74 days to reach million units mark is faster than Apple’s estimates. Steve Jobs said, "One million iPhones in 74 days-it took almost two years to achieve this milestone with iPod".
Great! The 10 million iPhone objective for 2008, announced by Jobs last January, seems easily reachable now. Doesn’t it? But what would be the impact of the price drop announced last week? Is it really going to boost the sales? Of course it will, but the iPod Touch could have the opposite effect on the iPhone because of the similarities between the two devices.
