Looks like it will be 02 carrying the iPhone in the UK. Apple announced it’s first iPhone European release deal today in London. Will the Brits be as infashionated by the iPhone as us Yanks?.. somewhat. And it will be fun to see it make it’s way through other major world markets, pretty quickly I’d expect, and the feeding frenzy that will continue to ensue.
I keep hearing about market share, and price, and that a million iPhone’s sold is "no big deal". I don’t think they plan on putting Nokia out of business…. and I don’t think they much care too. They’ve beat us over the head with their brand again… and we’re dazed.
Ever notice how everyone calls it
"your iPhone"?… "can I use your iPhone?"…careful with my
iPhone!"… "did you get an iPhone?". The only other cell phone that
gets that kind of instinctive brand recognition is Blackberry, and it’s
taken them years to do it… with many models, and many carriers.
Thing is… it’s not just marketing. It is, once again, making a great
tool, and making it feel like a toy. Of course, great marketing helps.
This Internationality will ultimately be great fun for all of us. What
is Apple going to do about true 3G, or "Enterprise" users? How soon
will a better camera be offered to be more competitive? Will they knock
everyone out with fingerprint recognition or video conferencing.. Apple
Style?
A few million more iPhones sold, to help fund their Think Different tank?… Smashing!
