Got a new cases">case for the iPhone this weekend. It’s the ClipHanger from, well, ClipHanger. They make lightweight plastic cases for a number of phones and devices. Snaps on quickly and very well engineered - it fits the iPhone like a glove. A hard, plastic, lightweight glove. All of the buttons remain available, and there is enough space cut out around each button to actually use them with the case on.
Drawbacks:
1. Only available in a vertical orientation. I know, you’re thinking, "So what? And isn’t that more convenient anyway?" Well, yes. But one of the quirky sites I found is the iPhone Name Tag. Go there with the iPhone/Safari, enter your name, spin it horizontally, and it will generate one of those "HELLO, my name is _____" stick-on nametags. I think that’d be a great way to roam the halls of Office 2.0 next week. But not with this case!
2. It blocks the speakers - not that they are that great anyway, but this makes them even more tinny and blocks some of the volume.
3. The clip is easy to put on, and I haven’t had it slip off yet, but it doesn’t actually clip - there’s no carabiner-type closure, just what is in essence a 2" loop of plastic. I’d like a bit more secure closing or even locking-type mechanism.
Cost is $12.95 + shipping from the website; I bought mine at Best Buy and I’m sure most of the other consumer electronics stores will have it. Available in clear, smoke, and black.
Bottom line: I like it, and for $15 bucks including tax it’s a great little case.
