You Paid $599 for Your 8Gb iPhone? Get a $100 Consolation Prize From Apple

Sounds like the iPhone early adopters really didn’t like Apple’s decision to drop the iPhone price so soon in the product life cycle. And even though this is the never-ending story of tech products, you have the right to complain. But don’t be so sad, Apple heard you and has a $100 consolation prize waiting for you.
In an open letter to all iPhone owners, Steve Jobs wrote:
"we have decided to offer every iPhone customer who purchased an iPhone from either Apple or AT&T, and who is not receiving a rebate or any other consideration, a $100 store credit towards the purchase of any product at an Apple Retail Store or the Apple Online Store. Details are still being worked out and will be posted on Apple’s website next week. Stay tuned."
Do you think this is fair? After all, nobody really believed that the iPhone price would never go down. Look at the new iPods Classic: Apple doubled their capacities for the same prices as the 5.5G iPods. That is even worse than the 33% iPhone price drop. Right?
