Steve Jobs will certainly hate this product. I suspect that he would even be offended if he sees you using your iPhone with it. But if you¹ve found it difficult or frustrating to type on your iPhone, then the new CoolTapp stylus could be for you. If you have fat fingers or if you’re a woman with very long nails, the stylus may be for you as well. But personally, I would never use a stylus with my iPhone. It would feel like ten years ago.
If you tried the CoolTap, let us know. I still want to know how well it works.
>You can get the CoolTapp now on ebay for an introductory price of $12.95

It’s not a real stylus. It’s a cheap pen. And it’s a rip off.

The CoolTapp is definitely not a rip off. Yes you can use it as a pen but it also works perfectly as a stylus on the iphone. I bought one and it works great. I don’t know what I did before I got it. I love mine and I wouldn’t want to be without it. Perhaps you should try one before you judge it.

Well, I got duped with this! It’s a metal pen! Try any flat top pen in your drawer - they all work! Gotta hand it to her - she found something I hadn’t found on my own, but clearly deceptive advertising it as a “stylus”.

Sam is a plant by Suemusik on E-bay. TOTAL PIECE OF CRAP - It works if you want to risk permanently scratching your screen. Yes, FLAT METAL edges will scratch your screen. COOL TAPP IS a JOKE!!!

The person selling these is an effin asshole… and ripping people off majorly.

—–JUST ANOTHER PEN——
I hate this thing. Sue Musik is a a jerk. Her product sucks. This thing is crap. I hate it. I only paid like 6 bucks for it but it really sucks. Don’t buy and tell sue how much her last customer hates her and her stupid pen. *Even the pen sucks* Look at the pogo stylus maybe.

Just wanna say sorry for the things I said about suemusik. She was reasonable in taking back negative feedback and worked with me to take it off. I have to say I was kind of angry and it was my first ebay experience.

Personally, I’m wishing there were obvious certainty for some justifiably positive hype re a stylus for us with either 1) beautiful fingers, or 2) fat fingers. I guess not yet. To speak positively - I’m just waiting.
Indeed, why rely on metal to enable you to scratch the screen? Why not find or DEVELOP some substance like a rubber pencil-eraser, say modify somehow so that 1) there’s no smudge, 2) it lasts vastly longer, but perhaps also be able to replace the tip if it ‘wears out’ 3) it can imitate the soft-pushing brush of a finger, as its varied pressure and width touching increases, then decreases? 4) imitate the differing warmth of skin (using some form of battery power e.g. AAA in the stylus?), and 3) moisture i.e. so you need to slightly moisten it each time you begin to use it, if that’s detectable by the iTouch/iPhone?
I suspect one possible huge motivation Apple (or say, Adobe) could have for such an item to actually work, reliably, would be the potential for one to PhotoshopTouch artistically a little blip sometimes when it just pops up in your mind’s eyes that you will want to turn into an image later, but you want to make a little visual note to yourself. An iStylus could be creatively very useful. Isn’t such interest already well-recognized? And being responded to?

I want an iPhone with Stylus!!! My husband LOVES his iPhone, but with fingernails, I find it frustratingly difficult to use the keypad. I have an older iPAQ to use for minor online functions, & I don’t even need to use it’s stylus: just tap with fingernail & it’s gold!
Considering ergonomics & user testing studies indicated men & women use their fingers/nails differently Over TEN YEARS AGO, why does Apple persist in this mysogyny?

I can’t vouch for it as I won’t have my iPhone until 7/11 but this one has a rubber tip.

You can get the stylus for under $8. I’m using it myself and it works well.

There are many reason why to have a stylus for an iPhone, finger nails, large thumbs for those of us that are normal? Many Apple users today may not realize that part of Apple’s claim to fame is their ability to work with people with disabiliities. Many cell phones just do not work at all with people who lack the dexterity to use their fingers or even their hands. A stylus on an iPhone can solve this problem.

Also, if you’re using the Chinese character input system (write Chinese and some Japanese characters right on the screen to enter them), it’s a pain to draw the 20 strokes of a complicated character with your fingertip in a box that’s barely two fingertips wide. Much better with a stylus.
Though the idea of a metal one scares the heck out of me. There are quite a few out there with soft felt tips–they not only don’t scratch your screen, but they actually clean the screen as you use it. Go for a soft-tip one if you’d find a stylus useful.

the only reason u wanted a stylus was because the touch screen won’t work if you have gloves on and that’s a problem for a new yorker like me in the winter. but since you guys mentioned it works with regular pens i guess i’ll be working with that then.

You want a cheap WORKING iPhone stylus. If you have one of those Xacto knife metal pens, take the blade out and use the flat side of the pen. It works!!!
