Sync all of me!

I’ve written about the pleasures of the Alien Camel email service for iPhone before. And you may recall the most awesome seems to me to be the automatic synching of mail on every device I own.

So while Alien Camel‘s big benefit is swatting away spam from our favorite handheld, I was pleased personally to see that the majority of those Alien Camel recently surveyed about their service agreed with my take: that the "total sync" was proving to be the killer value proposition.

I will confess however I was bit surprised to discover that
apparently the Alien Camel poll found  unlimited email storage more
important than virus protection. I hate to keep harping on Inbox Zero, people, but. . .the concept can improve you life. It worked for me!

And in the end, isn’t using iPhone to improve your life what it’s all about? But I digress.

You should really be tossing as much email as possible after you’ve
dealt with it! Alien Camel shares this fundamental "processing" idea in
its Pending Email feature, making it a great system for increasing your
productivity in my experience.

If you’re saving all your email — or even a fair chunk of it –
then you’re probably working for email instead of having it work for
you! That unlimited email storage may be a productivity trap in the
long run!

If you don’t believe me, believe Merlin. He gave an awesome talk on this to Google last summer.

This is probably the most entertaining and useful seminar on email
you could ever hope to attend. Then think about how much email you’re
saving. . .and how you can save less!

Maybe we can’t all work at Google yet, but we can adopt Google’s
most useful best practices to transform our own workplaces. I’ll get
off my high horse now, ok?

Anyway, you can read the full Alien Camel survey results here.
