Apple’s Garageband update allows users also using the newest version of the iPhone firmware to create custom ringtones.
We are likely to see ever-tighter integration between iPhone and Apple apps. This is a pretty unique selling proposition for Apple: Google may be able to create an integrated universe of webware, but until it’s all always available offline (or people are always — and I mean always — online) integration with people’s local desktop apps and systems will be most important, and useful.
As legit ringtone creation isn’t enough excitement for one day (after all, people with jailbroken iPhones have been able to do exactly the same thing, more easily, for some time), along comes news of an app soon-to-arrive which should allow the iPhone to become the world’s cheapest HD video recorder! If this is what people are cooking up before widespread access to the official Apple iPhone SDK coming early next year, I can’t wait to see what people are coming up with by mid-2008!!!
