The folks down in Australia seem to be wanting iPhones really bad as rumors float about the Land Down Under may finally get it made available to them by February. In the meanwhile, what the Aussies have been doing to get by is hacking iPhones from overseas of course.
Prepaid Earth recently interviewed a group of self-described iPhone hackers in Australia about getting their hands on the Apple mobile and what they did with it. These hackers talked about loving to take on a large company like Apple and the rush it brought. They also commented on how they get hold of iPhones since the product is not yet for sale in Australia - the common practice seems to be to buy it online, have it shipped to an address in the United States and then have it forwarded from there.
There are of course plenty of references online on how to hack an iPhone. There’s even an online tutorial on how to Australianise your iPhone. How cool is that?
