According to ZDNet Australia, and others, today, IBM is nowhere near ready to release a Lotus Notes version for the iPhone, despite many rumors recently. We reported those rumors to you here, so following up is in order.
IBM enjoys talking about this, for obvious reasons, but there is no "official" information about the release from them other than to say ""It’s not something that (is) ready to go out and market or launch". Even if they were a couple months away from release, or had somewhat solid agreements with Apple, they’d likely say more than this.
Apple BTW… has said nothing about it.
It reminds me of what Steve Jobs said about Apple’s talks with China the day of his Keynote. After A LOT of buzz about this, he said that they’d talked briefly with the China carrier, once, and nothing has come of it. A little different than all the dramatic "iPhone China Deal In The Crapper!" type of headlines there were, for days.
Man, those bloggers.
There’s also alot of buzz about AT&T "supporting the iPhone for it’s business customers", because they’ve released business accounts for the iPhone. Because this is supposedly already in place, my question is…. nowhere do I see what, exactly, what it is they’re offering, except for higher bills for business customers. Are there applications coming?… maybe?… do they even have a "Made For iPhone" website up for their business customers? I can’t find anything.
Although they’d all be rumors, please let us know if you’ve heard anything worth hearing. AT&T has had great success with the iPhone… and you’d think they would have some kind of "support" by now. I am all for business support for iPhone… 10+, and am always hoping for substance.
