Out of the darker side alleys of iPhone-related commerce comes One-Stop-China.com, promoting a new film adapter SIM card it says will make it easy to unlock your phone. It’s called the X-SIM II and it’s priced at around $45.
One-Stop-China.com says the X-SIM II card, also known as Turbo SIM, skips the SIM card identification process necessary with most other iPhone unlocking software. A user supposedly takes the X-SIM II card and his own SIM card and combines them to insert into the iPhone’s SIM card slot.
The process continues with the iPhone being able to “connect in any operator’s network, meaning that the iPhone is never
officially unlocked, but rather, the user bypasses the identifying step
to opening the phone. This makes it possible for the phone to be
upgraded with any firmware from Apple, as well as keep the warranty
from the operator.” You will also have to jailbreak your phone during the process. Anybody actually tried this one out yet?
