As soon as I saw Orbino’s press release announcing their new product line created to fit the beloved iPhone, I jumped on my computer keyboard and contacted the company right away to ask for a sample. They immediately agreed to my request, and I received the cases">case only a few weeks later.
So, what’s the deal with this cases">case anyway? Is this just another iPhone case like the tons of products we’ve seen so far in the last 8 months? Well, this is certainly a case, but it has a little something more than most iPhone cases out there don’t have: An Italian design! Combine the Italian special touch in design with the best design ever made for a cellphone, you end-up with a perfect match. A relationship that can make others jealous of (ok, I’m sure you get to point now…).
I must say that this product is the only iPhone accessory that gave me a thrill just by opening the box. The black packaging gives you the impression that you’re about to discover an incredible piece of jewellery, and it’s almost true.
So, I rapidly took the case out of the box, and screwed the metal beltclip to it(that can also be used as a kickstand). I was then ready to use it with the iPhone.
I gently inserted the iPhone in the case, but something was immediately wrong. Oh oh…The iPhone was so tight in there, that the pressure of the leather on the volume control buttons was enough to constantly change the iPhone volume level. What a bummer… My heartbeat reached a new high, but not for a good reason this time. I first thought that the product was simply not ready for prime time, but fortunately, I was dead wrong. After only an hour, the leather stretched enough, that it completely stopped changing the iPhone volume control. Yeah… It reminded me these expensive Italian shoes I bought a few years ago. I was extremely uncomfortable in the first few days after I bought them, but after a week, they were the perfect fit for my feet (Ok, maybe you don’t really care about my shoes…).
The case also comes with a screen protector, but I didn’t bother using it. The iPhone has a scratch resistant glass screen, and I rathertake the risk of eventually damage the iPhone screen, instead of having this piece of plastic changing too much the look and feel of my iPhone screen. Of course, this is up to you.
I didn’t use the beltclip that much to tell you about it, but as a kickstand, it does a great job, and this is probably why I still have it screwed on the back of the case.
The case is obviously made with the best leather possible, and the coarse stitches are very well made and adds to the beautiful case design. The case also adds a real protection to the edges and the back of the iPhone, and after using it for a few months, it still looks like new.
Conclusion: Ok, it’s expensive, but if you have the budget, I promise you won’t regret it. The case is available in 11 different colors and the price starts at $99, but if you want the Caiman crocodile leather, it could go as high as $319. The kick-stand belt clip is a true innovation and the hardware looks high-end, but the case itself seems a little lackluster. Must admit though that I’m generally not a case fan. I think they usually kludge up a nicely designed piece of hardware.

Nice, I like it. However, it looks a little old-fashioned.

I wouldn’t say old fashioned, but certainly classic.

If I have a BodyGuardz.com skin it would still fit in the case, right?

Mike,
I don’t see how the skin could cause a problem.
