BD Touch By NetBlender: Blu-ray BD-Live Goes iPhone!
We've talked about it two days ago, but Netblender officially announced their iPhone BD-Touch SDK for BD-Live only today.
I'm so thrill about this, it's insane. Two of our most popular blogs, Blurayfreak.com and iPhonefreak.com have usually nothing in common, but are now sharing an awesome news: the "BD Touch", a Blu-ray disc to iPhone technology.
NetBlender's BD Touch technology enhances the capabilities of BD
Live by enabling two-way communication with Apple's iPhone and iPod
Touch. BD Touch uses the BD Live network connection built into Blu-ray
players and the WiFi connection on the iPhone to connect the devices.
Even more, BD Touch applications can take advantage of the iPhone's geo location features, 3D sensors and QWERTY keyboard. Video, audio, text, and player commands can be transferred via the connection.
But Blu-ray authorers and iPhone application developers need to jump
on the BD-Touch bandwagon. Otherwise, this is all going to be
vaporware. I'm begging you all, movie studios and iPhone application
developer freaks, please make this happen! My iPhone could become the
most powerful remote control even made!
Here are a few of the things you'll be able to do with BD-Touch:
- Pushing digital copies of movies to an iPhone from the Blu-ray disc menu.
- Automatically cataloguing a viewer’s Blu-ray disc collection and providing movie suggestions
- Updating and managing a viewer’s rental queue
- Displaying trivia and extra information about a movie in sync with the movie's playback
- Turning existing Blu-ray discs into games that use the iPhone as the game controller
- Viewing fan-created content in sync with the disc
