AT&T: New iPhone Plan for Hearing/Speech Disabled
AT&T recently announced it's new service plan that caters to hearing and speech disabled persons.
This new service plan is also known as the Text Accessibility Plan, or TAP. Now how is this plan different from all the other ones? Well, with this plan the user is given unlimited texts, web browsing, and easy mail access with no voice minutes included, all of this for $40/month. The TAP plan is currently available only for hearing or speech disabled people.
To qualify for this plan, one must download, print, and then fill out this .pdf form, which should then be brought to an official iPhone retail store (AT&T, Apple, etc.)
"AT&T is pleased to announce a new Text Accessibility Plan (TAP) for
iPhone. This new Text Accessibility Plan was developed for people who
are deaf, hard of hearing, have a speech disability and/or hearing
loss, and was designed with input from the community."
Deaf and speech impaired users are still required to activate their iPhones via the regular iTunes method, they can then contact the National Center for Customers with Disabilities at
1-866-241-6567 (TTY) or 1-866-241-6568 (Voice) for help or more information.
