Earlier today (April 10, 2008), Engadget released a series of screenshots of the new iPhone 2.0 beta firmware update.
One of the most notable features included in this seed of the 2.0 beta, is the ability to search through your contacts list.
This means no more manually sorting through your contacts, instead you can use the new search feature to find one person in particular.
