Nike is planning to convert their technology which was first used on the iPod Nano, to the iPhone.
What does this mean you ask? Well, this means that you can now upload your workout information wirelessly to Nike+’s website, via a Nike application presumably created with the SDK.
Unlike with the iPod Nano, with which you had to dock your iPod to upload this information (what a hassle), users of this service will be able to upload their workout/jogging information directly to Nike’s website (via iPhone/iPod touch) and with 3g technology in the works, this process could be completed even quicker.
The Nike + iPod sport kit was initially launched in May of 2006 ($30), and since then has gone to sell millions of individual units, now integrated with the iPhone/iTouch, I can only imagine how many more will be sold.
