The flagship, and normally 24-hour Fifth Avenue Apple store is experienced some down time of its own. The store will be closed beginning on May 29 at 3 pm and will re-open the next morning on May 30 at 9 am. While still unconfirmed, the rumors are reporting that this closing will be to shoot a commercial for the 3G iPhone.
While this location maintains its 24-hour open time, it has closed in the past for limited time frames, typically for product launches and also for other film productions. The Apple store online page for the Fifth Avenue location simply lists the closing as a little note, which of course makes no mention of any of the good details.
"Please note: we will be temporarily closed Thursday, May 29 at 3:00 p.m. and will reopen Friday, May 30 at 9:00 a.m. During this time, please visit one of our other two Manhattan locations: Apple Store, SoHo, or Apple Store, West 14th Street."
MacRumors has stated that Apple Store employees who are on the scene
have confirmed (for passerby’s) that the store is closing for a
commercial, but of course offered no word of just what the shoot is for. However as any good Apple fan would, we of course have to read into the event and remain hopeful that it is indeed because they are filming a commercial for the upcoming device of our dreams.
