Two More Markets Confirmed for the iPhone
May 27, 2008 | Jimmy Rogers

Today has been a fairly big day for iPhone carrier announcements. Earlier Orange customers allegedly received offers of subsidies for the the 3G model. Now, two new telecom carriers have released statements confirming deals with Apple. TeliaSonera has issued a press release that it will provide iPhone coverage in the Nordic and Baltic regions of the world later this year. For those who can’t even identify some US states, these regions encompass Sweden, Norway, Denmark, Finland, Lithuania, Latvia, and Estonia. These countries fill in a number of previous gaps in iPhone global coverage.
One of the smaller gaps was also the Netherlands. Forbes now reports that Royal KPN is in talks with Apple for setting up a country-wide contract. iLounge notes humorously that the CEO of KPN, Ad Scheepbouwer, previously described the iPhone as "a pretty worthless phone," so there has clearly been a change of opinion. Maybe the earlier comment was related to the lack of many features that this release will be correcting.
