Apple Inc. has begun shipping boxes such as this one to retailers throughout Australia, these boxes have a warning on the front which states: “Subject To Terms of NDA/Do Not Open Until Tuesday June 10th 2008.”
An NDA, or Non-Disclosure Agreement is “a legal contract between at least two parties that outlines confidential materials or knowledge the parties wish to share with one another for certain purposes, but wish to restrict from generalized use.” (Wikipedia)
As many of you know, the 3G iPhone is expected to be unveiled at Apples Worldwide Developers Conference on June 9th, 2008. Seeing as how June 10th is one day after June 9th (obviously,) we can only suspect that these boxes contain demo models of the 3G iPhone (or something closely related to them.)
The one thing that has yet to be confirmed by Apple or for that matter anyone at this point in time is the validity of these images.
This particular image originated from Australian Macintosh Community, MacTalk.com.au. These same folks believe “that the iPhone contained within is for promotional purposes, ie. after it’s official unveiling at WWDC next week, the iPhone will go on display with a sign saying ‘look how cool I am - you can buy me on this date’. That date still looks like it will be June 19, coinciding with the opening of the flagship Sydney Apple Store.”
