BGR has been reporting that they have been experiencing and getting some reports of outages and spotty connections for AT&T’s 3G service in the New York City area over the weekend. These reports, although unconfirmed would lead to further speculation that the new iPhone is about to hit the streets. If you can remember back just about a year ago, a similar pattern happened just before the original iPhone was made available. The EDGE service seemed to disappear for short periods of time only to come back with a little extra power.
The latest reports have it that their 3G service, which was previously seeing around 500 to 800 kbps down in the NYC area are now topping out around 1400 to 1500 kbps. There has, of course not been any confirmation from AT&T on just what they were doing. We already know they were in the process of upgrading the network, but they did not release any information as to why, which means this could just be a mere coincidence and that the Apple fanboys just hoping for the best.
