According to recent reports coming from China Mobile the biggest issue with bringing the iPhone 3G to China has been resolved and they are “now focusing on practical issues.” The biggest issue was dealing with the fact that “Apple is no longer insisting on a revenue-sharing policy” and allowing the carriers to subsidize the phones.
As of now, there is not any current deal in place to offer the iPhone 3G in China, which happens to be the largest cell phone market in the world. Steve Jobs however remains optimistic and has been noted as saying that he hopes “to roll out the iPhone later this year in China.”
So while nothing has been confirmed it would appear that if we should see the iPhone become available in China it will be offered through China Mobile, who currently is the biggest mobile operator in the country.

The thing thats in the way iphones sold in mainland china is that China uses a very different 3g network than most other countries hence the “practical issues”. Kinda annoying but it does help secure its market.
