When I first heard that Incase was updating their line for the iPhone, I smiled, then I frowned.
The first iPhone launch was a fast and furious ordeal. When I finally got my hands on the real McCoy, I wanted to make sure I protected it from day one (something I had not done with my iPod and lived to regret). The Apple guy who taught the orientation class about the iPhone (which was populated by launch fanboys who only asked impossible questions) was using an Incase gel sleeve so I figured it was probably pretty solid and it looked awesome.
If only I had seen this article by Tim Bradbury and known how short a lifespan my satisfaction would have. As it turns out, my sleeve fit about as snuggly as an unboiled mouthguard. I’m now much happier with an Agent 18 hard cases">case.
Anyway, Incase did release a new line of sleves and cases for the iPhone in case (get it?) you want to give them a second chance - though I certainly wouldn’t.
First they have a leather folio with velcro closures. Kind of hard to picture from the provided image.
Next, a “PDA” style leather and neoprene sleeve. You either like it or you don’t.
There is the dreaded “protection cover,” which is the injection-molded nightmare that I first purchased.
Lastly, there is the “slider case,” which is a plastic hardcase that, unlike it’s squishier brother, I reserve judgement on. Hardcases and softcases (or gels) are very different animals, so let us know if you get one.

I think deciding on a $20+ protection sleeve/case is an important decision. There is so much that goes into it. You dont want to waste your money, you want it to look cool, you want it to fit properly and you want it to be able to protect your iphone. I am going to have to test drive some of these before i make a decision.

If you want a case that both protects the phone and looks ‘cool’, there is no better case than the Vaja leather. It will cost you, but it will last forever. And they’re taking email addresses for notification re their 3G model.
