iPhone, Apple Inc. Dragged Into “Touch Computing” Patent Lawsuit

Typhoon Touch Technologies, a small company from Nevada (US) recently claimed that they have two patents dating back to 1995 and 1997 respectively, which they are using to backup their claim that they are the original inventors of the touch computer.

According to AppleInsider, “The patents superficially refer to any device with a touchscreen capable of collecting information and, while meant for in-field situations such as police stops, are allegedly so broadly worded and illustrated that virtually every company making a tablet-like device or a touch smartphone has violated some parts of both patents, which are exclusively the rights of a little-known tablet PC maker referred to in the 13-page document as Nova Mobility.”

Typhoon Touch Technologies is hoping to gain a sizable sum of money from this lawsuit, and is seeking injunctions against all the products involved in this suit (of which there are very many,) and plans to maintain these injunctions until said companies agree to pay a “reasonable royalty” approximately every three months.

Apple has yet to comment on it’s specific involvement in this entire matter.

Denro Labs from Rockville MD, built a touch screen interface into their air traffic control voice switches back in ’80s. They were sold to the FAA. Since these systems were paid for by public funds by the government. That makes this patent moot based on prior art.

    Patent reform now!
