That’s right folks! iPhonefreak is ready for a whole new start. We feel that we’ve gone as far as we can go with the old rendition of iPhonefreak. Categories are cracking apart, response times are not good enough anymore, and the site layout can’t really evolve from its present form.
We’ve been working hard on new features, a new classification system and, of course, more cool and unique iPhone content than ever before! iPhonefreak was developed on Typepad because it was the obvious choice to make in 2006. But in 2008, Wordpress, an open source community platform, has much more to offer to a fast-growing blog like iPhonefreak. Designing and adding new features to iPhonefreak would have also cost much more on Typepad compared to Wordpress. Better yet, Wordpress will also significantly increase our ability to evolve in 2008 and beyond (yep, you got that right, there is definitely more excitement to come).
But this big move does come at a price: namely, the Content Migration hurdle. I can tell you that this was a tough one, and we’ll probably have to make a few adjustments in the upcoming weeks following the transition. Our greatest fear was to lose the traffic we get from Google, but I think we’ve cleared that obstacle, and we should be just fine. Fingers crossed!
We’re going to move the site in the next few hours. We apologize for any inconvenience this transition may cause. Due to DNS modifications, the site may momentarily be unavailable to you. If this is the cases">case, please check back in a few hours time.
Happy blogging on iPhonefreak’s new home!
