A recent survey conducted by iShare showed that around 91% of 402 Japanese wireless subscribers do not have any plans to purchase the 3G when it is initially released.
The translated version of the website is very hard to understand, as many of the words were not directly translated to English, but its pretty obvious that the Japanese market interest for the iPhone 3G is not an accurate portrayal of the interest around the rest of the world.
Why aren’t the Japanese interested? Well, I think that the fact that they are such a technologically advanced society in comparison the rest of the world, and have easy access to handfuls of other smartphones (cough iPhone clones,) they already have the 3G technology in their respective pockets, literally.
Check out just how excited the United Kingdom is in comparison.

Bullsh*t! Bullsh*t! Bullsh*t!
My “friend” works at an Apple Store and 80% of the calls he receives are from asian people that want iphones, and every time a japanese person rolls in to our store they buy up all our stock, each wanting their 5 iphones. this information is irrelevant and false. if you note the survey was taken a few days BEFORE apple announced the new phone when everyone was all upset that apple was out of stock.
This is a load of horse crap. If anyone wants an iPhone, it’s those freakin’ asians
