Next-gen iPhone subsidy to lower UK pricing to just £100

Next-gen iPhone subsidy to lower UK pricing to just £100

According to a report from the Times Online, the soon-to-be-released 3G iPhone could be priced as low as £100 for O2 customers in the UK. These subsidy reports are coming from analysts expectations that Apple will be allowing the carriers to have more control over the phones pricing, but not all are not fully convinced the carriers will have as much flexibility as we are expecting.

Ben Wood, a CCS Insight analyst, has been noted as stating that he is “not convinced that they will let them have open season on the price, as they have a lucrative iPod market to protect.”

While again, nothing has been confirmed with pricing, in Europe or the US, however it has also been rumored that AT&T will also offer a lower priced iPhone in the future. This latest UK pricing of £100, is just about $197 US, and that fits in closely with the recently rumored AT&T price of $200.

As always we will offer a friendly reminder that this is just all rumor and analyst speculation. Hopefully the official announcement and release, which is expected to come on June 10 will prove this to be true.
