O2 staff fired, after using employee discount to resell iPhones

Several O2 locations have recently been found to have not the most honest of employees. Currently about six have already been fired and about twenty more are still being investigated, the employees were found to have been using their discounts, which were up to 20% or more to purchase iPhones and then sell them for a profit at online sites such as eBay.

An industry source was found to be surprised that these employees were facing trouble, and has stated that “it is actually nothing new that staff in mobile phone shops have supplemented income with this abusive perk.” It seems this has been at least on some level fairly common and it took them doing it with the iPhone, which is an “iconic” product for O2 to see the crackdown begin.

It looks like O2 employees are going to have to find another way to supplement any lack of income, and from the fact that this sounds to be fairly common practice, I would imagine there is going to be a price increase in black market phones due to the new found shortage.

first of all, O2 should be ashamed of themselves for singling out individuals who have found a way to beat the system we have all been there or thought about it. But no one see’s the bigger picture….ask your self how much does 02 make a year on their financial statements. Maybe if they paid their employees (whom without them there would be no O2) a fair wage they wouldn’t have to look elsewhere for revenue.
