Rogers has officially announced the data plans for the upcoming iPhone 3G, and its not the unlimited option that most were hoping for. Instead they are offering four plans that range in price from $60 per month up to $115. Each plan will come with unlimited Wi-Fi access at any Rogers or Fido hotspot, unlimited incoming text messages and visual voicemail, but they will also all be tied to a three year agreement.
The four data plans break down as follows:
- $60 per month for 150 anytime minutes and unlimited evenings and weekends, 400MB of data transfer and 75 text messages sent.
- $75 per month for 300 anytime minutes and unlimited evenings and weekends, 750MB of data transfer and 100 text messages sent.
- $100 per month for 600 anytime minutes and unlimited evenings and weekends, 1GB of data transfer and 200 text messages sent.
- $115 per month for 800 anytime minutes and unlimited evenings and weekends, 2GB of data transfer and 300 text messages sent.
In addition to the calling plans Rogers also has two available “voice value packs.” The first, which is $15 per month includes Caller ID, Who Called, Caller Ring Trax, 2,500 Sent Text Messages and 2,500 Call Forwarding Minutes. And the second, which is $20 per month includes Caller ID, Who Called, Caller Ring Trax, 10,000 Sent Text Messages and 6:00 p.m. Early Evening Calling and 2,500 Call Forwarding Minutes.

This is bunk, eh? I’ve been holding off my anticipation for the new phone with thoughts of nasty plans, and we’ve now got em.
I think that I’ll stick to my archaic first generation iPhone and won’t even bother with the new 3G.
I wonder if they will adjust their overall data rates to reflect these ones? Right now I’ve got 750 daytime, evenings and weekends from 6pm, 2500 sent text, etc for $65/month… can’t beat that with those above plans.
