Rogers offering the iPhone 3G for $199, $299 with a 3-year agreement

While there are still plenty of details missing as to exactly how Rogers plans on handling the data plans with the iPhone, we have learned that they are planning to offer the phone for the same price at its US counterpart AT&T. The 8GB model will retail for $199 and the 16GB model for $299, however unlike the two-year agreement that US based AT&T customers will have to deal with, Rogers is planning on sticking their customers with a three-year agreement.

All I can really say is wow! I have a hard time sticking with a phone for one year, I have in the past made it to the two-year mark, but I cannot imagine keeping a phone for three-years. Just think how outdated it will be by the time your agreement ends. Let’s just hope that Rogers is able to do a little better with their monthly data rates. Sadly they have not announced anything yet, leaving it with a simple comment of “more details on price plans and retail availability will be available soon.”

I believe that you just have to stay with Rogers for three years - not the specific phone.
