Rogers to Offer Cheaper Data Plan in Canada?

According to the National Post, Rogers Communications Inc. (Canada’s iPhone service provider) plans to decrease its various data plans in preparation for the 3G launch on July 11th.

Rogers president and chief operating officer Nadir Mohamed stated, ”There’s a recognition on the part of Rogers that the world has changed,” Mr. Mohamed said. “We’ll be changing our prices to reflect that.”

While no pricing specifics were provided by Mohamed, rumor has it that Rogers is planning to release plans to compete with those of AT&T.

“We’re looking at pricing changes that will be more flexible, easy to understand and most importantly, drive the adoption of mobile broadband,” said Nadir Mohamed.

According to MacRumors, “Rogers is rumored to be offering $30 unlimited data plans for consumers, and $45 unlimited data plans for enterprise. Customers, however, will have to sign 3-year agreements.”
