Television Shows Added to Australian iTunes Store

Television Shows Added to Australian iTunes Store

Twenty-three different shows have just been added to the iTunes Store for Australian customers.  Australia, often the last to get access to new tech and media, are finally getting their share of the iTunes Store pie.  Each show is priced at $2.99 each (Australian dollars of course).  Here is the list:

  • Desperate Housewives
  • Grey’s Anatomy
  • Scrubs
  • Lost
  • Summer Heights High
  • We Can Be Heroes
  • Double the Fist
  • Foreign Correspondent Postcards
  • Sleek Geeks
  • Surfing the Menu
  • Hannah Montana
  • The Suite Life of Zack and Cody
  • Cory in the House
  • Canal Road
  • McLeod’s Daughters
  • Sea Patrol
  • Urban Magic
  • Blue’s Clues
  • The Hills
  • Laguna Beach
  • My Super Sweet Sixteen
  • South Park
  • Pimp My Ride

These shows, as you can see, represent a fairly wide range of television programing.  There are popular American shows, Australian hits like “Summer Heights High” and “McLeod’s Daughters,” and childrens’ programing from Disney. iTunes movies are still unavailable to Australians.

Apple’s Vice President of iTunes, Eddy Cue, said in a press release, “We’re thrilled to bring television programming to the iTunes Store in Australia.  We’re off to a great start with shows from Australia’s top networks combined with favorites from the US, which customers in Australia will love being able to watch on their computer, iPod or on a widescreen TV with Apple TV.”

I really feel for Australians because there is no good reason for them to have to get everything in a delay.  It’s not like Brittain gets the same treatment.  Stupid media deals are what make people turn into digital pirates.
