UK Interest 400% Higher With Upcoming 3G Release

A recent survey on O2’s website revealed that potential iPhone customers are almost 400% more interested in the upcoming 3G release than they were with the original UK release of the iPhone.

This survey showed that over 130,000 users pre-registered in order to receive additional information on the 3G. On the other hand, only 35,000 similar requests were made after the original announcement that the 3G would be coming to the United Kingdom.

I believe there are several key factors responsible for this alarmingly large number of new interested iPhone UK customers. First, the price of the new handset is half ($199) of what it used to be ($399,) as you probably know, the price of an item (in this case the iPhone) is one of the largest deciding factors when you are purchasing a new product. Second, 3G technology is up to 2.5 times faster than the original EDGE was, this is nearly as fast as WIFI. When buying a smartphone one of the key features you are looking for is going to be internet speed and ease of use, two things the iPhone now has more than ever. Lastly, many people (not only in the UK) have been putting off previously buying an iPhone, and instead waiting for the 3G release.

All I can say is that the iPhone is on the fast track to becoming quite possibly the most popular smartphone in the world.

Your math is flawed. Using your logic, the people who requested information only increased 371% – not 400% as you posted. Also, who cares? Asking for information in no way guarantees a purchase will be made.

Read the first paragraph before making accusations…the word “almost” implies that it is not exactly 400%, but instead within that general range, your reading is flawed, not my math. Who cares? I care, and obviously you care enough to read this post and then comment on it.
