Apple recently published information on their website outlining the basic upgrade process of an original iPhone to an iPhone 3G.
This new support document shows you how to “replace an original iPhone with an iPhone 3G using the same carrier.” It basically tells users to make sure that all of their information is backed up on their computers (with the latest version of iTunes,) then to plug in their new iPhone 3G’s and transfer the information formerly on their original iPhones (but now backed up on their computers) onto it.
“After iTunes finishes restoring the backup you selected to iPhone 3G, iPhone 3G will restart. When iPhone 3G appears again in the iTunes window, select it. Then click the tabs (Music, Photos, and so on) and verify or change the items you want to sync. Then click Apply to sync iPhone 3G with iTunes.”
I’m glad to see that Apple has taken the proper steps to allow users to transfer their data from their old iPhone onto their new iPhone 3G (knowing Apple I have come to expect this much.) Had they not done this I’m sure there would be a couple million angry iPhone users!

I am planning to upgrade my iPhone to 3G, OK, but what happen to my old iPhone?
Can I give it to someone who wish to have iPhone even it’s a older version.
Then he or she can activate to use it? Does EDGE service still continue?
OR Apple or AT&T would take it as trade in?
