We have seen the recent reports of firmware 2.0.1, which should include small bug fixes, and now Apple has also begun testing iPhone firmware 2.1 and it looks as if it will have at least a few welcomed items included.
According to some early reports coming from those with access to 2.1 there are some new Core Location features included and the good news is that it looks like it has the potential to offer up some turn-by-turn directions with the ability to track the direction you are traveling as well as your current speed.
In addition to the GPS, it also looks like we will finally be given our copy/paste ability. This one is a bit unclear, however the new WebKit framework is noted as now including commands for “plugins,” “copy,” “paste” and “cut.”
Also rumored to be included in 2.1 will be Apple’s background push notification service.
Assuming these reports are accurate, it looks like this will be a welcomed update.
