Apple retail outlets throughout the United States have changed their respective opening times by as much as two hours earlier than normal, all in order to accommodate the ever present iPhone 3G demand.
Apple has updated their iPhone 3G availability page to read, “To accommodate demand for iPhone 3G, all Apple Retail Stores will now open at 8:00 a.m. every day but Sunday. We’re also adding staff to help you get up and running as quickly as possible.”
In addition to earlier opening times, some Apple Stores are handing out “rain checks” so to speak. This means that if your respective Apple Store happens to be out of iPhone 3Gs they will give you one of these “rain checks” telling you when their next 3G shipment is due.
AppleInsider has confirmed that select Apple Stores are willing to set aside iPhone 3Gs for “pre-qualifying customers” who have been waiting in line. By this, I mean that Apple will allow you to come pick up an iPhone 3G without waiting in a line. Customers can visit an Apple Store as late as 6 p.m. to pick up a reserved iPhone 3G.
