Apple’s take on firmware 2.0 features; GPS, copy/paste, a Mobile Office suite

One of the most wanted features is something that sounds like it should be pretty simple; copy and paste, but according to the head of Apple’s iPod and iPhone marketing Greg Joswiak it was not something that could be done because they determined “other things to be more important.” Hopefully that means we will see it coming in a future revision of the firmware.

Moving on, Joswiak also commented on the GPS and the current lack of turn-by-turn directions, claiming that there are “some complex issues” that has kept such an application from being developed. He also went on to state that he feels it “will evolve,” which hopefully means that we will see the recently confirmed TeleNav GPS application come soon.

Finally he also addressed a mobile office suite and mentioned that there is nothing restricting developers from creating such a suite, but the “lack of a cross-application file structure” could create some issues. While I am pretty sure this is not a reason that has kept anyone from creating a mobile office suite for the iPhone, I also cannot imagine using such a program and not having a copy and paste ability.

While everyone seems to have their missing feature or functionality, my little pet peeve is not being able to re-order my email accounts. I have several email accounts added and it would be nice to be able to move selected accounts up or down the list and create a sort of priority.
