Optus, one of the three Australian carriers have announced their calling plan options for the iPhone 3G. They have a variety of calling plans available as post-paid and also pre-paid accounts.
The post-paid accounts seem to have quite a few options, the first of which is the ‘yes” Cap plan. These begin with a $19 a month option that includes 100MB of data and “$50 of calls, text and more” and top out with a $179 plan that includes 1GB of data along with “$1500 of calls, text and more.”
These plans also come with a “monthly handset repayment” which ranges from $51 a month down to $23 a month for the 8GB model on a 12 month contract, and from $21 a month down to free for the 8GB model on a 24 month contract.
The 16GB model will go from $61 a month down to $33 a month on a 12 month contract, and the 24 month contract will range from $26 a month down to free.
The other option for a post-paid account is the ‘yes” Plan and these range from a $19 a month option that includes 100MB of data and “$14 of calls, text and more” and top out with a $149 plan that includes 1GB of data along with “$144 of calls, text and more.”
Similar to the ‘yes’ Cap Plans, these ‘yes’ Plans also come with a “monthly handset repayment.” They begin at $49 a month and go down to $23 a month for the 8GB model on a 12 month contract, and from $19 a month down to free for the 8GB model on a 24 month contract.
The 16GB model will go from $59 a month down to $33 a month on a 12 month contract, and the 24 month contract will range from $24 a month down to free.
Finally we have the pre-paid options, which seem quite a bit simpler. On these plans the 8GB iPhone will cost $729 and the 16GB model will be $849. The pre-paid plans are the Turbo Cap plans and range in price from $30 up to $100.
All prices noted are in Australian dollars.
