Rolando, A New Game for the iPhone [Trailer]

Games, iPhone News

The new iPhone SDK has really inspired some developers to not only think outside of the box, but practicly get out and run around the box too.  This ingenuity can be see in Rolando, a new iPhone game (probably coming this August) which reminds one of Lemmings or some other “get the things herded from one end to the other” game.

Before I say more, check out the trailer:

First of all, that music is sweet!  Anyway, the game is a physics/puzzle game that requires you to move around little critters called “Rolandos.”  There are different kinds of Rolandos and they all have different properties.  From what we can see in the trailer, some of them are “sticky” and collect the little ones, while others can be stretched out to form bridges.

The controls are hard to determine exactly, but it looks like the directional controls will be on-screen.  TUAW, who posted this trailer, have heard it from the developers that the accelerometer may be used somewhat, but it doesn’t sound like it will be as crucial as it is in racing games, for instance.  The App will likely cost $9.99 upon release (which seems to be the going rate for iPhone games so far).

With what you’ve seen so far, would you buy this one?

Wow this game look like a complete rip off of Loco Roco (PSP and PS3)
Really the only difference I can see is that the rolandos have “powers” and arent really linked other than that even the objects such as the spinning platform are in the game.
