In what seems like it will be a never ending series of troubles for the MobileMe service, Apple has once again admitted some problems, and once again has made a peace offering.
Back in mid-July we first saw Apple offer a free 30-day extension to make up for the botched launch, and now they have come back with a 60-day extension.
The extension notice came in a brief email that stated:
“We have already made many improvements to MobileMe, but we still have many more to make. To recognize our users’ patience, we are giving every MobileMe subscriber as of today a free 60 day extension.”
In addition Apple also went on to claim that they are still working on the MobileMe service and also admitted once again that the MobileMe “launch has not been our finest hour.” Of course, that seems to just be assumed at this point.
In order to qualify for the free 60-days your account must have been active as of August 19, and for those that do qualify, expect to see your me.com account page updated sometime in the next few days.
Its nice to see a company admit when there are problems and issues, lets just hope they can turn this service around because MobileMe does have some potential.
