Apple seems to be cranking away with progress on the iPhone, and has just released firmware 2.1 Beta 3 to iPhone developers. Of course, this does not mean that we as the general public will end up seeing it quite so soon. Keep in mind that Apple went through 8 beta versions of firmware 2.0, so it may be another month or two before 2.1 becomes publicly available.
“iPhone OS 2.1 beta 3 is now available and is to be used for testing only. View the Pre-Installation Advisory for iPhone OS 2.1 beta 3, Readme, and Release Notes before installing the new versions of the iPhone OS and SDK. As a reminder, pre-release software is Confidential Information and is subject to the terms outlined in your Registered iPhone Developer Terms and Conditions with Apple.”
Above is a statement that was included in an email that was announcing the availability to developers. Which as you can read bounds them from talking, which means that currently we have not been able to turn up any new features or items that were changed in version 2.1. Of course as soon as I can dig up some dirt, you will be the first to know.
