Vermont has become the last and final state here in the US to be able to get (and use) an iPhone. This good news comes about in a strange way, its courtesy of the recent merge between Verizon and local carrier Unicel. Which now that they have merged the FCC has given an overlapping coverage area to AT&T in an effort to prevent Verizon from becoming a wireless monopoly in Vermont.
While the plans are now official, it will still take some time before the coverage is available. Of course, the residents of Vermont have now been without an iPhone for about 14 months, so whats another few months wait?

I have been using my iPhone in Vermont since August 3 2007 and it works great in most places (Rutland, Burlington, Wallingford). I have trouble getting a signal while traveling in more remote areas of the Green Mountains. Of course, I purchased it in New York State last year.
