Copy and paste for the iPhone! Sort of… [Video]

One major feature we’ve all been waiting for since the release of the new iPhone firmware, copy & paste, has yet to officially be released by Apple

Developed by Zac White, OpenClip is a 3rd party application that offers a copy & paste functionality in “supported” iPhone applications.

You may be familiar with another 3rd party application by the name of MagicPad. MagicPad is exactly what it’s tag-line says it is, “the first rich text editor for the iPhone.” MagicPad does make use of the copy feature, but only while you are editing text in the application itself. OpenClip on the other hand allows you to copy & paste between supported apps.

OpenClip works by temporarily storing selected data (”copy,”) and then retrieving it from storage and inputting it into the desired field (”paste.”)

So until Apple decides to incorporate copy & paste into the iPhone, I guess we’ll just have to make do with 3rd party apps such as this one.

The following video from GeekBrief.tv outlines the basic functionality of OpenClip:

What is the repo/source for that app? Is OpenClip available at Installer?

  2. Eddie Says:

    Fabio,
No. As I understand, it has too be baked into the application. There’s nothing to download or install, you just get updates or install the applications that support it.

    (I’m not 100% sure)
