Firmware 2.0.1 for the iPhone now available through iTunes

The first update for the iPhone has arrived, Apple has just made available firmware 2.0.1 through iTunes.

Of course the official word is that this update will take care of some “Bug fixes” but give me some time and I will see what I can dig up. While we are not expecting any new features, we can at least hope that it will take care of some of the slow backup times and issues with crashing apps. If nothing else just give a little overall “pep” back to the iPhone.

The update came in at 249.2MB, and aside from being a little slow to download and install it all seems to be moving along just fine so far. Of course after I have it fully installed I can play around a bit and see just how the iPhone is performing.

As usual, if you have already jailbroken or unlocked your iPhone, I would suggest holding off on this update until we get some further information. Of course going back to a non-jailbroken phone would not be all that bad.

However, if you have a jailbroken or unlocked iPhone and are feeling brave and go ahead with the update feel free to let us know your status in the comments below, of course I still have my original iPhone, so I guess I could test it out myself.
