Well it seemed like it had to happen, Apple has pulled the “most expensive iPhone app” from the store. Of course there is little news as to just why it was pulled, and I was not able to find any update on the developers site, however when attempting to pull it up in the App Store, I was greeted with “the item you’ve requested is not currently available in the US store” message.
My initial guess is that Apple was tired of dealing with complaint issues from those looking for a refund, because after all the apps are pretty easy to purchase, they can be just a single click, that in this cases">case would have cost a whopping $999.99.
Which sadly for that price you received was an app that basically did nothing, it would serve as nothing more than a geeky status symbol, or perhaps as a symbol that you are not that bright. Because who would really be all that willing to shell out a grand for an app that just put a red rotating gem on the screen.
Aside from the red gem, it also offered the little information “i” on the bottom right hand corner that was supposed to give a secret mantra, I will have to take their word on that because even if it were still available, it would not be purchased by myself.
Of course, in keeping things on the fair side, the developer was pretty upfront about just what how little the app actually did. Hopefully some more information will come available as to why this was removed.
