iPhone going corporate? HSBC considering ditching the BlackBerry

It looks like we could potentially be seeing the iPhone making a corporate leap, HSBC bank is currently considering ditching the BlackBerry and picking up the iPhone. Nothing has been officially decided just yet, however according to HSBC’s Australia and New Zealand chief information officer Brenton Hush they are currently “reviewing iPhones from a HSBC Group perspective.” He also further went on to state that this would be a global transition and would affect around two/thirds of their 300,000 employees.

This change would obviously mean some very bad news for RIM, but on the other hand should be some good news for Apple. Not only will it mean 200,000 iPhones being sold, which in itself is a large order, but it could possibly also lead to other Apple items being purchased for their offices in the future.

No word on any time line for this to happen, at the moment the iPhone is still just being “considered” and HSBC was careful to point out that “it’s a big decision, especially when you have an existing fleet out there.”
