Problems, problems, problems, it seems just about everyday a new issue shows its face, thankfully they seem to be getting addressed. Granted they are not all being fixed on the first try, but at least it seems that progress is being made.
The latest issue has to deal with third party apps and a know bug that is causing third party applications to not properly launch. According to reports this issue is “widely suffered,” and this is one that I have experienced myself. While I would not say it is a big problem for me, I have seen it happen a few times, and a quick reboot seems to fix the problem, of course while that seems to work, its not an acceptable long term fix.
Thankfully this issue is not being ignored, and according to a recent statement from Steve Jobs himself, “this is a known iPhone bug that is being fixed in the next software update in September.”
Of course depending on your use, the issue may or may not be affecting everyone quite as much. And it is important to note that this just affects third party apps, and the standard default apps such as Mail, Safari and others are not affected in any way.
The cause of the bug is said to be caused by the way iTunes is handling the App Store purchases. According to at least one users report, they were told by a support agent that the iTunes account has actually been split into two accounts internally, one for the regular iTunes purchases and one for the App Store purchases. It seems what this comes down to is DRM issues, so everyone that is having trouble launching third party apps can just say; “Thanks DRM.”

not sure where you’re getting your info from but it’s not just third party apps that are crashing and kicking you out to the home screen….contact, safari and text all kick me out….and I’m sure I’m not alone.

Hey James, This particular issue was that the apps were not launching at all, the just would not run. I have not yet had my Contacts crash and kick me out, but have seen it a few times with Safari.
The catch here is that Safari has always opened, where the third party apps just sit there and never open.
